Can’t believe my first week of the last semester is already over!!! Our first day of classes turned out to be a snow day because of the snow storm so every one enjoyed another day off. Well, I couldn’t complain anything since I didn’t get back to campus until 4 a.m. on Monday, so it was nice to have some extra time to unpack and relax.
Getting to know all the new Vietnamese students was so much fun! Some of them are from Hanoi, some are from Ho Chi Minh City and some are from Nha Trang, which makes us such a great group because we all have different backgrounds but are very open to each other. Having been at Keuka since freshman year, I have never seen such a diverse and dynamic group of Vietnamese students before! Everyone has their own unique talents and interesting stories, which makes me realize how important it is to live in a community where you can make good friends and are able to learn something from them.
We ended our first week of classes with a little birthday party for my friend, Thuong. We had a super-duper nice dinner with all kinds of possible meals from the ingredients we had: Meatballs in tomato sauce (thịt viên sốt cà chua), Korean kimchi, Vietnamese pickled vegetables (su hào muối), crispy shrimp rolls (nem tôm rán), stir-fried squid with onions (mực xào hành tây), and dry pickled radish (củ cải bao tử). Needless to say, I felt like my stomach was filled with not only good food but also love and happiness because finally I’m united with all of my dear friends at Keuka College. Can’t believe we only have some few more days being here together until graduation. 😦
